Aparima / Little Aparima

Aparima and Little Aparima are made using felted core yarn, 100% New Zealand wool.

The core yarn is made by wrapping wool around a central yarn during the felting process resulting in a core to our standard felted wool. The core can then be dyed a different colour to the wrapper (outer) wool colour giving a ‘dot’ to the cut ends. Colour combinations become endless with the choice of a core colour and an outer colour. This brings creative flexibility to the design process when choosing the colour to dominate and which colour to compliment room accessories in this textural chunky cut pile finish.

Aparima is finished at 25-30 mm pile height making it a very full dense rug finish, maximising underfoot comfort and warmth. Little Aparima is finished at 15 mm, creating a shorter version of Aparima. Little Aparima showcases a more modest finish and is also renowned as the anchoring piece to many areas of the home - entrances, hallways, living rooms and bedrooms.The felted core yarn is the brainchild of our local felted yarn supplier and is made by wrapping wool around a central yarn during the felting process, resulting in a core to a standard felted wool yarn. The J tuft stitch formation means the core colour is exposed in every thread and forms a shaggy pile. Core yarn is often used to incorporate a highlight or feature colour from the room into the rug in a subtle way.
