How is CRONZ different to other carpet and rug retailers?

CRONZ is not only a retailer but also a carpet and rug manufacturer with 20+ years of experience. John Wyma, director of CRONZ, developed a totally unique tufting machine that makes the best quality products, lasting for years. CRONZ specialise in creating bespoke rugs and carpet so everything is made to order, in New Zealand, and according to your specifications and expectations. Unlike with standard carpet retailers, you can choose your size, colour and design. CRONZ offer free design consultations and an exceptional customer service.

What is the lead time?

Our current lead times are approx. 10-12 weeks for every new rug order and 14-16 weeks for new carpet orders. If you need your rug/carpet sooner, please get in touch as there is a possibility to upgrade to our express shipping option of the yarn supply and this will result in a shorter lead time.

What is the difference between a carpet and a rug?

Carpet is a wall-to-wall floor covering, also known as broadloom carpet (which refers to the way it has traditionally been constructed - woven on a wide loom). Rug is a smaller piece, used for certain areas only and not extending over the entire floor.

How do I care for my product?

CRONZ wool rugs are durable products that are easy to clean. No special cleaning procedures are required. If you are looking for an extra protection, we offer Microseal spraying after the rug has been made, which we do in the factory, and this adds a light invisible coating to the surface of the rug that penetrates deep into each fibre. This is highly recommended for rugs containing cellulose (linen) & semi-synthetic fibres (art silk, bamboo) as well as for light-coloured wool rugs.

Where do you ship to? How much is the freight?

We ship worldwide and offer door-to-door delivery. The shipping costs depend on the size of the rug and your location. Overseas buyers are required to pay taxes and duties calculated on the entry to their country. In New Zealand, the shipping costs start at $40 + GST (small rug). Large rugs usually cost $150 + GST to ship around New Zealand.

How can I see your rugs? Do you have examples of the different styles?

We are based in Rolleston near Christchurch where all the products are designed and made. We also have a showroom here that you are welcome to visit and browse through all the different styles, finishes and colours. Alternatively, we can send samples to your home address anywhere in the world.

How much would I pay for a CRONZ rug?

Our rug prices start at $520/m2 + GST and our carpet prices start at $280/m2 + GST. All prices are based on the size (or total area), number of colours, style/texture, finish and pattern (if any). Therefore it is best to ask us for a custom quote. We require 50% deposit on order confirmation and balance on the rug completion.

What is my rug/carpet made of?

Most of our rugs are made of 100% New Zealand wool, a great natural fibre with unique qualities. The wool yarns that we use range from fine carpet yarns (380/1 tex) to felted wool yarns in different weights and thicknesses (1300, 2500, 3600 tex). We also use other fibres such as mulberry silk, bamboo, nylon, linen or jute.

How do I choose my colour/s?

We have a colour folder containing a collection of standard 140 colours, all dyed on wool. The digital version of this is available to view here. To ensure complete satisfaction with colour, we recommend asking for colour samples once you have decided on the style and type of yarn used for the rug – as this influences the colour. We are also able to custom dye to any specific colour. If you struggle with the colour choice, we are more than happy to help and offer free design consultations.

Are all your rugs custom-made? Do you have rugs in stock that I can purchase straightaway?

We normally do not hold many rugs in stock as they are manufactured to order. However, when we have spare time in the factory and surplus of yarns we tend to make some stock rugs and offer them at the Sale page at discounted price. These are the only rugs that you can purchase straightaway, everything else is custom-made.

What size can my rug be made in?

You are not limited to specific sizes or shapes. Pick any style or design your own rug and we make it the size and shape you want.

Can I request a sample? How much does it cost?
