We pride ourselves on the great attention to detail that goes into every aspect of our rug finishing process. From the choice of materials to the final touches, we ensure that each rug leaving our factory is of the highest quality and durability.
Our Rug Finishing Process
Rug Backing
Our rugs are built to last, thanks to our carefully selected backing materials.
The primary backing, made from polypropylene, mirrors the same high-grade material used in broadloom carpets worldwide. Complementing this, our secondary backing features an open-weave polypropylene, akin to the reliable action back found in broadloom carpets. However, what sets us apart is our use of latex with minimal fillers, resulting in a softer, more flexible backing compared to traditional action back. This unique combination ensures that our rugs and carpets are not only flexible but also exceptionally strong, with minimal risk of delamination.
Rug Edging
The finishing touch to our rugs is just as important as the materials themselves.
At Cronz we use the 'rolled edge' binding technique. This method involves delicately folding over the secondary backing at the rear of the rug and securing it firmly with latex and glue. Additionally, we apply tape made from cotton or jute to further reinforce the binding. Over time, typically within a few weeks, the rug naturally relaxes, seamlessly integrating the binding into its design for an invisible finish.
Please note, we do not offer overlocked edge or serging, nor do we provide leather borders for our rugs as this doesn’t suit our style of manufacturing (tufting).

Microseal Protectant
For added peace of mind, we offer Microseal protectant as an optional addition to our rugs. Applied at our factory before shipment, Microseal provides an invisible barrier that safeguards against stains and spills, making maintenance and cleaning a breeze. With Microseal, you can trust that your rug will not only retain its beauty but also its longevity, enhancing your enjoyment for years to come.
Microseal costs an additional $40/m2 + GST.
