Tidal Rug, Christchurch

In this residential project, we had the pleasure of designing and crafting a custom rug for a sophisticated dining area in a Christchurch CBD apartment. The client sought a rug that would not only complement the modern aesthetic of their space but also add warmth and texture to the room. Our Tidal rug design, made in felted wool, proved to be the perfect solution.

The Tidal design is inspired by the rhythmic patterns of ocean waves, with flowing lines and subtle curves that create a sense of movement and tranquility. For this project, we opted for our premium felted wool yarn, known for its durability and luxurious feel. The client chose a palette of cool blue tones, reminiscent of the sea, with a touch of orange to add vibrancy and contrast. The felted wool was selected for its unique properties—its dense, compact structure makes it exceptionally durable, ideal for high-traffic areas like a dining room. Additionally, the natural insulating qualities of wool provide a comfortable underfoot experience, making the space inviting and cozy. The combination of custom colours and the luxurious feel of felted wool has made this rug a cherished addition to the client’s home.
